Job Description

The RN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies, internal policies and standards of care to provide best possible care to the residents

The below job description will apply:

General Responsibilities
1)  Ensure care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies, as well as observe, report and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents / patients. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care
2)  Assist in assessing patients/residents and develop, implement, review and evaluate care plans. Monitors health, notes changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors; processes and implement physicians’ orders

Qualifications:
1)   Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
2)   Previous leadership experience in long-term care preferred
3)   Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired residents
4)  Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices

5) Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control measures
6)   Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors
7)   Ability to present information clearly and effectively both verbally whether in person or over the phone, and in writing; an active listener who projects a friendly demeanor
8)   Ability to collect and use information to critically think problems and situations; puts information from various sources together to see the ‘big picture’ and generate creative solutions

9) Sound knowledge of Wound Care
10)   Organizational, planning, time management, multi-tasking and conflict resolution skills

11) Able to work as per Health and Safety guidelines and policy

12) Willing to take a Quality Program Leadership role

13) Flexibility to work in different roles as per the facility requirements

14) Willing to work on different units as per the facility needs
