Summary
This position would perform job duties consistent with the Staff RN job description for the Inpatient Endoscopy department. Specifically, the role would perform all functions of the Endoscopy Staff RN in the Pre-, Intra-, and Post-Procedure phases of patient care. This role would also train to the first assist role in procedures, as well as bedside emergency cases in the ICU. There would be responsibilities associated with the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes. There would not be assigned call, but this position would be call eligible to assist with coverage of weeknight call needs prn. Additionally, this position would have responsibilities associated with readying the department for weekday case work (stocking, cleaning, readying stretchers and patient bays), and would also be expected to help with prepping and recovering OR cases with Endo case work was light during scheduled shifts.

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.
Description:
- Assessment of patients’ needs.

- Provision of direct care.

- On call requirement weekends/holidays picked by rotation.
- Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery.
- Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking and creativity.
- Must possess ability to supervise and delegate appropriate work to Patient Care Techs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Students.
Requirements:
- Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
- Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
- Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date. .
- ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
