Expectations:

Responsible for coordination of care to meet identified needs of the patient/family. Supervises the management of patient care utilizing critical thinking and nursing process, discharge planning, resource identification, linking and scheduling patients with required services, monitoring care delivery, advocating for the patient, care planning and evaluating outcomes. Coordinates patient care across the health care continuum, and assists other team members with meeting individual patient needs.
This is a Float Pool position, requiring floating to various Medical-Surgical units and if trained, to Behavioral Health units as the need arises. This position may require flexibility of hours.

EDUCATION:
For internal promotions to a RN New Grad or for hires between 9/1/15 – 5/1/2018, must be currently enrolled in a BSN or MSN program & degree must be completed within 3 years of DOH or date of transition to an RN position.
Effective for New Hires after 5/1/18, BSN or higher required.
Diploma or transcripts on highest degree earned required.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Active participation and successful completion of assigned New Grad training program including on-unit preceptorship as well as rotations throughout the designated Medical-Surgical Units, required.
Must challenge and successfully pass the Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum within 60 days of hire.
Basic computer skills/experience with computerized documentation systems, required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association within 3 months of hire/transfer

SKILLS:
This New Grad position requires participation and successful completion of training with the specific role of floating to various Medical-Surgical Units (CTU, Rehab, COU, 4 West, 5 West, 6 West, 4 East, 5 East, 6 East, Behavioral Health) and functioning as coverage for sick calls, short term LOAs and other staffing needs.
Must be willing and able to work in a face paced, frequently changing environment.
Must be willing and able to multi-task effectively to accomplish work assignments.
At the completion of orientation, the New Grad will be able to:
1. Efficiently acclimate to assigned unit and specific patient care assignment, actively communicating with PFC and/or assigned unit buddy to confirm unit specific logistics and processes.
2. Demonstrate technical skills to safely operate and troubleshoot problems with equipment and diagnostic devices for which they have been trained.
3. Establish collaborative communication with peers and providers to ensure patient needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
4. Participate and contribute to assigned unit goals and priorities at the direction of the PFC.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in use of information systems (Cerner, Acuity, KRONOS and e-mail), consistently making accurate entries on each system.
6. Demonstrate proficiency in delivering age specific care to the assigned patient populations: adult and geriatric in the Medical-Surgical and Telemetry setting.
7. Ensure environmental safety by maintaining clear hallways, fire doors closed, medication room/supply doors are locked, reporting equipment repairs to PFC or Facilities/Engineering.
Additional requirements:
• Complete any annual skills, competencies, certifications, and all mandatory classes per hospital policy or unit/division needs.
• Is knowledgeable about general safety, core measures, TJC requirements and Patient Safety Goals, as it pertains or is applicable to unit they are assigned
• Ensure timecard is accurate and approved on time, prior to close of payroll. Communicates effectively with assigned unit PFC to ensure all rest and meal breaks are taken to maintain compliance. Actively engages PFC prior to event if rest and/or meal breaks are not able to be taken on time.

Pay Range: The estimated base rate for this position is $46.00 - $46.00.

Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.

- Base rate paid for the first 8 hours of work in a day

- 1.5x overtime pay for hours 8–12 worked in a workday.

- 2x double-time pay for any hours beyond 12 in a workday

This ensures that employees are fairly compensated for the full length of their shift, with enhanced pay as their workday progresses. The estimated blended hourly rate, accounting for these premiums on a 12-hour shift, ranges from $53.67 to $53.67.
