Registered Nurse Mental Health Intake-PM/Nights-LOH Assessment & Referrals

Hourly Pay Range:

$38.16 - $59.15 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Hours: 7pm-7:00am or 11pm-7am

What you will do:

  • Conducts medical screening of patients to ascertain if any medical issues need to be addressed prior to admission or if patient is medically stable to be admitted to Linden Oaks.  Gathers all necessary information from patient, family and referral sources to make an informed decision.  Collaborates with other staff when indicated.
  • Assesses the clinical needs of patients seeking behavioral health services and determines the appropriate level of care that is consistent with the patient’s mental and psychiatric status and symptoms
  • Appropriately assesses clinical needs
  • Collaborates with physician to determine level of care
  • Provides treatment referrals which are consistent with the patient’s medical and psychiatric status and symptoms
  • Identifies potential/actual problems that may adversely affect the patient and/or department.  Reports situations immediately.
  • Oversees follow-up with referral sources as appropriate
  • Partners collaboratively with the Assessment and Referral staff to ensure timely completion of patient transfers. 
  • Processes transfer requests from call to completion reviewing for appropriateness of transfer to LOH, consulting with the on call Psychiatrist and coordinating patient admission to LOH as appropriate.
  • Conducts full admission process with patients and family members prior to unit RN assuming care to include but not limit to, body checks, MD orders, nursing care plans and education.

What you will need:

Education, Skills and/or Experience Required:

  • Maintain information as highly confidential
  • Nursing degree
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Education, Skills and/or Experience Preferred:

  • BSN degree or actively pursuing BSN degree
  •  Two years of nursing experience; One year of behavioral health experience

License/Certification Required:

  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse license
  • Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of hire
