Headquartered within Saint Joseph’s University (SJU), within the School of Health Studies and Education, the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support (Kinney), has a two-fold mission to educate and train the autism professionals of tomorrow, while supporting and serving the individuals and families affected by autism today. Kinney serves children and adults affected by autism throughout the five county Philadelphia area, southern New Jersey and Delaware while staffing their programs with graduate and undergraduate students, SCHOLARS, predominantly from Saint Joseph’s University but from surrounding colleges and universities as well.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Receiving campers/staff for acute illness and injury care
• Support the Camp Director in ensuring that all campers medical needs can be
adequately met during their time at camp.
• Create, maintain and update Camp Kinney Medical Policies and Procedures
• Review and approve all Camper Health Assessment forms
• Assisting with daily living skills and hygiene (ie. toileting)
• Learning and communicating specific camper health needs (ie. allergies, special diets) to staff
• Communicating with parents of campers specifically related to health care issues
• Keeping an organized log of all health issues occurring at camp
• Building and maintaining an inventory of medical supplies
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Being present for, taking part in, and overseeing group activities/events involving the entire camp.
• Moving from different camp areas throughout the day to check-in or oversee activities; being on-call to move to where any illness or injury care may be needed.
• Ordering appropriate medical supplies
• Office support: answering phones, filing, generating communication items related to health issues or topics.
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
• Registered Nurse, licensed in Pennsylvania
• Minimum of 3-5 year clinical experience in general medical-surgical nursing.
• Excellent physical assessment skills necessary.
• Pennsylvania State Clearances
• General liability insurance
Preferred:
• BSN preferred.
• Previous experience with the autism community or individuals with special needs
• Previous experience as a school or camp nurse
Pay Range:
This position has a fixed pay rate of $38.00 per hour.
