Responsible for providing the managerial and clinical link between the Inpatient Manager/Director and front-line stakeholders. In collaboration with the Manager/Director, has oversight of safety and patient care processes, as well as flow, promoting quality care for oncology patients across the continuum of care. Makes administrative decisions, provides direction and communication and authorizes and acts in the absence of the department manager and hospital administration.

The successful candidate:

  • Supervises individual team members (direct reports) and provides ongoing, midyear and end of year review feedback.  The feedback is used for ongoing performance improvement, development and growth of those stakeholders
  • Acts as a resource in the absence of the Inpatient Manager by identifying and/or solving administrative/operational problems.
  • Coordinates initiatives, processes and policies, specific to the Inpatient Unit, in partnership with the Inpatient Manager, that impact safety, patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with appropriate nursing leaders on hospital wide initiatives that impact the Inpatient Unit.
  • Investigates safety events, communicates solutions/resolution of problems within the Inpatient Unit.
  • Communicates with and educates the Inpatient team regarding policy or procedure updates.
  • Partners with the Inpatient Manager/Director in the mentorship of the team.
  • Liaison with the day and night shift teams in partnership with the Inpatient Manager/Director.
  • Assists with scheduling of the Inpatient Team to ensure that high quality, safe care is provided according to hours per patient day and acuity.
  • Partners with the Inpatient Manager/Director in the development, implementation and evaluation of Inpatient goals and key performance indicators (KPI’s).
  • Attends required daily meetings and reports relevant information back to the team in a timely manner.
  • Assists with the implementation and daily management of enterprise initiatives related to quality, finance, and safety.
  • Maintains skills, competencies and licensure required to provide hands-on patient care
  • Identifies and responds to service recovery needs as identified by patients and/or other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Monitors and enforces adherence to state board of nursing, state nurse practice act requirements and other governing agency regulations.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum of two years hospital nursing experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Arizona
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire or before completion of nursing orientation
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) upon hire or before completion of nursing orientation.
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration Certificate Course within 6 months of hire and renewal every two years.
