About the Role

The Grade 2 Registered Nurse, under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager, will be responsible for the delivery of expert clinical care in his/her specific area. The Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for ensuring his/her own professional development in order to maintain clinical skills and knowledge. The Grade 2 Registered Nurse participates in the Medical Imaging on-call nursing roster.

 POSITION DUTIES

  • Assist patients and their carers’ with any questions or concerns about their procedure
  • Manage the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
  • Complete MRI Safety Screening Questionnaires with patients or their carers
  • Monitoring a patient’s vital signs; critically analysing any changes, and then reporting and acting on those findings
  • Administer medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies
  • Assist with medical and diagnostic procedures carried out in the unit, inclusive MRI scout roles, as required
  • Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings within the framework of nursing progress
  • Responds to clinical changes in patients conditions and initiates consultation with relevant medical/nursing and multi-disciplinary team as required.
  • Completion of Handover in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures
  • Application of knowledge acquired from attendance at professional development activities as agreed to at unit/ward level
  • Is responsible for own professional development, including achievement of 100% annual clinical competency certification


Classifications for this position will range from YP3 - YP9 ($69,253.60 - $92,601.60 pro rata per annum). 

Your Contribution

  • Current Nursing Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Previous Medical Imaging Experience, specific to MRI sub-department

About Medical Imaging
Medical Imaging provides diagnostic and interventional imaging to both St Vincent’s public and private hospitals. The Medical Imaging MRI Nurse works as part of the multidisciplinary to provide nursing care for these patients across the MRI department. The Medical Imaging Nurse will work primarily at St Vincent’s Private Radiology, Building B and C Basement.
