Where there’s life, there’s Mercy.

Where there’s care, there’s You.

Through the battles and the breakthroughs, we're there. Where will you be?

For over a century, our incredible teams have provided care for people when they need it most. Our people feel great pride in this, and they value the security and stability we offer. But it also means so much opportunity - to build on all that’s gone before, to grow your impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

At Mercy Health, it’s all about taking what we have and making it better.

To do that, we need you.

Join us at Mercy Health and help our teams deliver even greater outcomes.

About the opportunity

  • Join our highly skilled Birthing Services Team and provide evidenced based, women centred care
  • Work a rotating roster including Morning, Afternoon & Night duty shifts, with the opportunity to upskill and work 0930-1800 triaging induction bookings and performing cervical ripening for induction of labour. Should you prefer to work only night duty shifts, this will also be considered
  • We support our midwives to grow and develop their skills to be able to provide holistic care in birthing services

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience as a midwife working in a Birthing Suite
  • Level 2 or above RANZCOG practitioner status
  • Competence to perform IV Cannulation, Balloon Catheter insertion for induction of labour, perineal suturing, and waterbirth (or working towards these skills)
  • Knowledge of managing high risk, complicated pregnancies and birth, but also possess the skills and desire to facilitate physiological birth where possible

About you:

  • you are approachable, compassionate and contribute to a positive team culture
  • excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve
  • you hold the birthing person at the centre of their care ALWAYS - ensuring informed consent and prioritisation of birthing preferences

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check

  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders
