Summary:

Provides complex therapeutic nutritional care - both direct and consultative; provides formal teaching; serves as a mentor for Registered Dietitians I and II and as a preceptor for the Dietetic Interns; interacts with other professionals locally, statewide and nationally. Plays an active role in developing, implementing and evaluating change within the department.

Description

1.Participates effectively and professionally in medical team rounds, in patient care conferences and with clinical staff

2.Provides education and training for co-workers, dietetic interns, medical students and residents, other health care personnel and the community

3. Documents all pertinent nutrition information in the patient's medical records following Joint Commission standards, ADIME format and departmental policies and procedures

4.Serves on hospital-wide committee or hold office in local, state or national dietetic related professional organization

5. Present at state or national meeting or publication of manuscript or Grand Rounds or similar setting.

6. Develops education & provides classroom instruction for physicians, residents and other students as a part of their specialty

7.  Identifies nutrition related issues and makes appropriate referrals for complex problems

8. Assumes a leadership role in mentoring all clinical dietitians and providing appropriate information to expand their knowledge base.

9. Other duties as assigned.
