Regional Vice President, Business Development

As a leader in the Business Development team, the RVP will be accountable for the overall performance and growth of their assigned region with a primary focus on succession planning and book purchase opportunities, and advisor recruitment. The successful candidate will formulate and execute strategic plans to maximize CI Wealth’s market share, provide high-level guidance and support to drive advisor and branch growth, and collaborate closely with management to advance organizational objectives. This role demands an influential presence in both internal and external settings, with frequent travel to sub-regions, advisor offices, and industry functions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Main focus on succession planning and book purchase for advisors in western Canada. This is a very high growth, high reward segment of CI Wealth’s business.
  • Set and drive strategic growth goals for the region, aligned with AWM’s corporate objectives. 
  • Spearhead advisor recruitment initiatives, building strong relationships with high-potential prospects. 
  • Develop and oversee service and growth strategies, leveraging organizational resources and maintaining consistent regional messaging. 
  • Maintain deep industry knowledge including competitors, investment vehicles, financial markets, and emerging trends. 
  • Report regularly to senior management on regional performance, competitive intelligence, and strategic opportunities. 
  • Represent the organization at conferences, seminars, and industry events, raising AWM’s profile and influence. 
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and regulatory excellence. 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in the financial services industry, with extensive client-facing, sales, and leadership experience in a CIRO dealer environment preferred. 
  • Proven track record of regional or cross-regional management and strategic growth in wealth management. 
  • Expert-level understanding of investment products, practice management, advisor technology, and regulatory codes. 
  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire trust and develop high-performing teams. 
  • Advanced presentation and public speaking skills, with effectiveness in both in-person and virtual settings. 

Education & Training

  • University degree in business, finance, or related field. 
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course. 
  • Advanced designations (CFP, CIM, CFA) strongly preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive expertise in distribution and wealth management, investment themes, products, and industry trends. 
  • Advanced knowledge of practice management frameworks and advisor technology ecosystems. 
  • Strategic leadership and decision-making abilities, with a focus on regulatory compliance and organizational goals. 
  • Superior ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams; foster strong relationships internally and externally; and drive business results. 
  • Fully bilingual and proficient in French and English.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel required to advisor offices, sub-regions, roadshows, conferences, seminars, and industry events. 
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal business hours to fulfill regional leadership responsibilities. 
  • Hybrid work environment, with presence required at both regional offices and remote locations as needed.
