This position works out of our Mexico City, Tlalpan Site in the Abbott Global Security Division.
About the Role
The Regional Security Manager plays a key role in supporting Abbott’s commitment to safeguarding our people, products, and operations across a diverse and evolving risk environment. This position leads regional security operations, advances Abbott’s Global Security (GS) strategy, and ensures consistent protection standards across manufacturing sites, commercial offices, supply‑chain nodes, and field operations. The role requires strong leadership, deep expertise in corporate security within a global organization, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams supporting Abbott’s healthcare mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee day‑to‑day regional security operations, ensuring alignment with Abbott Global Security (GS) policies, programs, and enterprise risk priorities.
- Develop and execute regional security goals, protocols, and operational plans that support Abbott’s strategic objectives and enable business continuity across manufacturing, logistics, commercial, and R&D environments.
- Review, refine, and implement security procedures designed to protect employees, facilities, high‑value products, supply‑chain activity, and sensitive operational assets.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of threats, vulnerabilities, and operational risks impacting Abbott sites, field teams, and distribution channels; implement mitigation measures based on findings.
- Monitor regional disruptions, including crime trends, civil unrest, natural hazards, and geopolitical developments, and coordinate response strategies with local business leaders and global security partners.
- Serve as the regional lead for major security events, coordinating closely with Abbott leadership, cross‑functional teams, external security partners, and local law enforcement as required.
- Oversee and conduct investigations related to threats, security incidents, potential product diversion, and workplace violence matters, ensuring timely and actionable reporting.
- Design and deliver security training programs to strengthen preparedness, employee awareness, and adherence to Abbott security standards.
- Produce after‑action reports following security events and coordinate implementation of follow‑up actions or corrective measures.
- Communicate security matters clearly and effectively to senior leaders, providing insights that support informed decision‑making across corporate, manufacturing, and supply‑chain functions.
- Evaluate, select, and manage security vendors and contracted guarding services to ensure high‑quality, compliant, and cost‑effective performance.
- Strengthen internal processes, governance, and audit readiness across regional operations to reduce risk and support Abbott’s compliance and quality commitments.
- Lead special security projects in support of Abbott Global Security initiatives or business‑driven requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in security, risk management, or operations within a corporate or global organization.
- Demonstrated experience as a Security Manager with strong leadership capability in complex, high‑risk, or multinational environments.
- Expertise in operational security, physical security, travel security, crisis management, and workplace violence prevention within a corporate or manufacturing context.
- Proven experience developing and implementing security plans, crisis‑management frameworks, investigative processes, and incident‑response protocols.
- Strong background in incident reporting, threat assessments, and risk analytics.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate effectively across global, cross‑functional teams including Supply Chain, HR, Manufacturing, Quality, Legal, and Communications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation and reporting capabilities.
- High‑level judgment and decision‑making skills, with the ability to lead during high‑pressure situations.
- Experience selecting, managing, and evaluating external security partners, including guarding and investigative vendors.
- Willingness to travel within the region and internationally as required.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) required, with the ability to operate confidently across multicultural environments.
