Job Description

At Brambles (CHEP), safety isn’t a checkbox—it’s a promise. We’re looking for a Regional Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to lead, inspire, and elevate HSE performance across our U.S. operations. This is a high impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and culture.
If you’re passionate about protecting people, strengthening systems, and influencing leaders across a complex, multi site footprint, this is your opportunity to make a measurable difference nationwide.

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Deliver strategic objectives by leading, mentoring, and developing a team of HSE specialists, ensuring consistent delivery of organizational safety and other related objectives and building a high-performing team.
  • Ensure compliance with safety management systems, environmental legislation, and risk management processes, serving as a key advisor on regulatory and industry standards.
  • Participate in working groups and steerco’s to represent the regional direction.
  • Oversee and manage all HSE reporting requirements, providing regular updates to regional leadership, Brambles, and external bodies.
  • Engage in risk assessments to identify safety, security, business interruption and environmental risks, developing and executing plans to mitigate those risks.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in human and organizational performance, promoting and leading training initiatives and facilitating learning teams at the site level.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to share and implement good practices, driving continuous improvement in HSE performance across operations and the broader business.
  • Coach and guide managers, leaders, and safety professionals on safety leadership, promoting a culture of safety at all levels of the business.

As the Regional Manager, Health, Safety & Environment – U.S., you will lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of HSE programs across CHEP’s U.S. operations. You’ll act as both a strategic partner and a hands‑on leader—ensuring strong regulatory compliance while building a proactive, resilient safety culture.

Regulatory Compliance & Standards Implementation

You’ll ensure U.S. operations consistently align with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state regulations, serving as a trusted advisor to leaders during inspections and regulatory interactions. You’ll also implement and reinforce global and regional HSE policies, procedures, and standards, translating them into practical, site‑level execution.

HSE Program Leadership

You’ll develop, execute, and continuously improve health, safety, and environmental programs across the U.S. footprint. Working closely with operational leaders, you’ll support hazard identification, risk assessments, and the implementation of effective controls, embedding HSE into daily operations rather than treating it as a standalone function.

Incident Management

When serious incidents occur, you’ll take the lead—driving high‑quality investigations, root‑cause analysis, learning teams, and corrective actions that prevent recurrence. You’ll track, analyze, and interpret incident data and trends, using insights to recommend targeted actions that reduce risk and improve performance.

Audit & Risk Assessment

You’ll support and participate in HSE audits across U.S. sites, strengthening audit outcomes and ensuring timely closure of corrective actions. You’ll also play a key role in annual risk assessments and HSE planning cycles, helping prioritize resources and initiatives where they matter most.

Training & Culture Building

You’ll facilitate engaging HSE training programs and coach both leadership teams and frontline employees. Your focus will be on strengthening safety culture—driving ownership, accountability, and visible leadership commitment across diverse operational environments.

Reporting & Analytics

You’ll maintain accurate, reliable HSE metrics, producing clear and actionable monthly and quarterly reports for leadership. By turning data into insight, you’ll help guide decisions and demonstrate progress against safety and environmental goals.

Contractor & Vendor Safety

You’ll oversee contractor and vendor safety programs, including prequalification and ongoing performance management, ensuring all partners meet CHEP’s safety expectations and standards.

Emergency Preparedness

You’ll support the development, review, and annual validation of emergency response plans at all sites—ensuring readiness, compliance, and confidence in high‑risk or crisis situations.

Your Scope & Influence

  • Geography: United States (national responsibility)
  • Footprint: ~16 CHEP sites, with occasional support to Subco locations
  • Stakeholders: Operations, Engineering, Automation, Sales, Leadership Teams, Regulators, and External Partners
  • Travel: Approximately 40–60%, based on projects and audit cycles
  • Leadership: Direct leadership of the U.S. HSE Coordinator, with influence across site leadership teams

What Success Looks Like

You’ll know you’re succeeding when:

  • Safety incidents and severity rates are trending down year over year
  • Regulatory inspections are smooth, compliant, and well‑managed
  • Audits show consistent improvement and timely closure of actions
  • Leaders and frontline teams actively engage in safety conversations
  • Risks are identified early—and mitigated before incidents occur

What You Bring - We’re looking for a confident, credible HSE leader who can influence at every level.

You’ll need:

  • 7+ years of HSE experience, ideally in manufacturing, logistics, or industrial environments
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and U.S. regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience leading HSE programs across multiple sites
  • Hands‑on expertise in audits, investigations, and risk assessments
  • The ability to influence in a matrixed organization with competing priorities
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the U.S.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Human & Organizational Performance (HOP)
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001
