PATH seeks a Regional Malaria Coordinator for the USG-funded Reaching every at-risk community and household with malaria services (REACH Malaria) global project. REACH aims to provide implementation support services and technical assistance to countries to accelerate progress in comprehensive delivery of facility and community-based malaria services, including malaria case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy (MiP), health systems strengthening, data collection and use for service delivery, and other malaria prevention interventions.
The Regional Malaria Coordinator will report to the Operational Technical Advisor and coordinate implementation of malaria interventions in the region and district, coordinating with relevant ministry of health officials at regional and district level, PATH technical and operational teams and other implementing partners.
Responsibilities:
Ensure coordination and management of the regional office with weekly reports to the COP
Manage implementation of project activities at regional and district level, collaborating closely with health regional and district teams, administrative authorities and other local partners.
Manage and supervise resources of the project regional office (vehicle, staff) closely with the COP and the finance manager
Ensure project representation in regional and district health coordination mechanisms.
Ensure the project's participation in regional health directorates and health district coordinating meetings and other key health stakeholders.
Provide support and oversight to the MEL officer to ensure the timeliness and completeness of reports and data from districts and regions.
Provide support and supervision to the administrative finance assistant to ensure that financial reports and supporting documents for district and regional expenditures are available on time and complete.
Lead the development of the regional annual workplan, budgets and performance reports of the project
Review the terms of reference for the regional office team's activities and ensure that feedback from the national project team is incorporated.
Liaise with all relevant stakeholders, including health regional directorate and districts, universities, civil society and private sector to implement planned activities
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with project partners.
Contribute technical expertise in relevant subnational TWGs and provide input on standard operating procedures and guidelines for project implementations
Work with in-country and PATH administrative contacts to facilitate contractual and financial reporting requirements.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to the malaria program at regional and district MOH level, ensuring high-quality interventions across all technical areas.
Conduct field visits to surveillance sites to ensure adherence to established protocols.
Required skills and experience:
A minimum of five years of experience coordinating technical activities in public health programs, preferably for malaria
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health or medical sciences is required. A medical degree with a postgraduate qualification in public health or similar is preferred.
Experience supporting donor funded projects and familiarity with malaria or public health programs.
Proven team leadership and strong management skills, including use of planning and supervision tools, management of program, documentation, budget monitoring and oversight.
Experience interfacing with and navigating governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
Demonstrated effective project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work with a variety of partners with minimal supervision.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Team-oriented and ability to facilitate productive working relationships inside and outside the organization.
Ability to travel frequently within the country is required.
