Summary

The Asset Utilization Manager is responsible for optimizing the total life cycle value of vehicle assets to improve utilization and financial return on all assets. Working with the Asset Management Team developing short and long-term strategies enabling Ryder's Field Operations and the Ryder Integrated Logistics teams to improve the profitability of assets.


Essential Functions

  • Work with Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) and Ryder Integrated Logistics (RIL) teams to maximize utilization of assets leased or rented in RIL fleet
  • Manage non-Ryder owned assets: Develop and implement an integrated strategic plan to ensure all non-Ryder owned vehicle assets comply with the terms and conditions of Ryder's contractual obligations while owning these supplier relations
  • This includes external rentals, OEM operating leases and lease financial vehicles
  • Develop proactive action plans, continually monitor expirations and coordinate with relevant internal teams to ensure timely replacements and disposals
  • Develop business cases for early termination, when appropriate; evaluate total cost of ownership and determine best financial course of action for Ryder.
  • Identify internal idle lease or rental assets that can be used to replace external assets; reduce Ryder’s reliance on external equipment vendors and increase usage of Ryder owned assets.
  • Policy and Procedure Management by creating, communicating and enforcing policy
  • Early Termination/Early Replacement process management.
  • Provide reports and information to RIL teams as requested; gather equipment-related information from various sources and supply to RIL teams as necessary. This can include, but is not limited to: on order status, term out reports, fuel consumption, equipment performance, rental contract history
  • Lead and/or participate in Special Projects from time to time such as: Manage and identify action plans and ensure compliance of vehicle fleet with state environmental regulations.
  • Assist RIL and FMS teams with work on startup and shutdown of operations; identify assets to use in startups and manage redeployment/disposal of assets in shutdowns.
  • Assist with equipment-related questions and support of new business pursuits; provide RIL teams with needed information on specifications and/or equipment related information to include in proposals.
  • Evaluating unit, customer, and team-wide vehicle performance and develop action plans to improve; coordinate with relevant FMS and RIL teams to ensure progress toward that goal.
  • Working with UVS teams to support fleet takeovers/buyouts.
  • Facilitate Schedule A buy out and provide Schedule A figures to teams for use in contracts with customers.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Balance assets and equipment availability in assigned markets according to capacity, customer requirements and planner needs and manage internal capacity to match freight volume. While exhausting idle or GAM units vs. Rentals.
  • Coordinate equipment pools availability at customer sites and geographical locations to balance available assets and meet operations and customer needs.
  • Assist FMS Billing, Month End Close, JV (Journal Voucher) for shared equipment, P&L equipment contributions report analysis.
  • New equipment specifications, order and renewals, rated miles vs actual miles, and vendor management

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma/GED, Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Preferred
  • Master's Degree in in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Preferred
  • 5 years or more in relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, transportaion, warehouse or industry related field., Required
  • 3 years or more in customer interaction, Required
  • 2 years or more in Dot regulations and Safety practices, Required
  • 5 years or more in Supporting multi-sit operations preferred, Required
  • Excellent knowledge of Transportation Advanced, Required

Compensation Information:

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
