What this job involves - Lead facilities management operations across Southern California for established defense contractor client, with primary focus on Orange County, while providing strategic oversight over multiple locations within the Southern California market. Drive operational excellence, financial control, and market leadership while developing data-driven insights, implementing tier-based operating models, managing comprehensive stakeholder relationships, establishing vendor sustainability partnerships, and developing talent management frameworks with health and safety programs tailored to defense contractor requirements. Travel required (10-15%) across Southern California counties for client relationship management, team leadership, and market development within secure defense facilities, with majority of time focused on Orange County operations.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Oversee FM operations across established defense contractor facilities throughout Orange County and broader Southern California markets

  • Set regional vendor management strategy and drive cost control consolidation for secure defense contractor environments

  • Support long-term project strategy and manage stakeholder relationships

  • Generate monthly data-driven insights for risk and opportunity analysis across operations, H&S, sourcing, and budget management with security compliance focus

  • Drive procurement and sourcing strategic initiatives

  • Identify and map comprehensive stakeholder networks with targeted improvement initiatives

  • Champion long-term customer relationship management strategy within defense contracting protocols

  • Drive resource allocation decisions and approve major supplier agreements with security vetting processes

  • Implement monthly cost-reduction initiatives with budget optimization programs per county while maintaining security standards

  • Monitor budget variances and validate regional capital expenditures

  • Lead operations teams with succession planning for key leadership roles requiring security clearances

  • Establish H&S training frameworks with comprehensive completion tracking for military-grade safety protocols

  • Drive vendor performance monitoring and quality standards

  • Implement tier-based operating model with clearly defined role assignments across all portfolio sites including classified areas

  • Ensure compliance with client SLAs, ITAR regulations, defense contractor requirements, and regulatory compliance including California-specific building codes and environmental regulations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field

  • 10+ years FM experience with minimum 5 years in senior market leadership roles

  • Proven track record managing FM operations across multiple sites and working with multiple client contacts

  • Experience with Facilities Management within a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work in a fast paced and flexible environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English required; Spanish preferred

  • Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking abilities within secure environments

  • Advanced communication and presentation skills for senior executive and government stakeholder interactions

  • Data analysis capabilities and experience with change management in regulated environments

  • Deep understanding of FM systems, sustainability programs, and H&S implementation for defense facilities

  • Knowledge of ITAR regulations, defense contractor compliance requirements, California building codes, OSHA regulations, and environmental regulations

  • Experience with secure facility operations and government oversight protocols


Location: Costa Mesa, California

Estimated compensation for this position:

145,000.00 – 175,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
