Regional Director

We are seeking dynamic and experienced Regional Directors to join our team at John Hancock. The ideal candidate will be located in the New England area and will play a crucial role in driving our sales strategies and expanding our customer base with institutional and Point of Sale relationships.  As a Regional Director, you will be responsible for working with a robust team across functional competencies to assure we grow market share and achieve regional sales targets. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in sales.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Sales Leadership

  • Own and execute the regional institutional sales strategy to achieve or exceed revenue, growth, and profitability targets.
  • Collaborate with, coach, and assist with developing a team of institutional sales professionals (e.g., regional directors, relationship managers, consultants).
  • Establish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and drive a high‑performance sales culture.

Business Development & Client Management

  • Develop and maintain senior‑level relationships with institutional clients, including asset managers, Financial Advisors, banks, consultants, retirement platforms, and other strategic partners.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand existing relationships across the region.
  • Represent the firm in high‑level distributor meetings, industry events, and local occurrences.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Partner with national sales leadership to align regional strategies with enterprise‑wide objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and client needs to inform regional planning and prioritization.
  • Drive disciplined pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and opportunity execution.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with sales peers, underwriting, product, operations, marketing, legal, and compliance teams to deliver integrated institutional solutions.
  • Ensure client needs are effectively communicated internally and executed with excellence.
  • Support product launches and strategic initiatives within the institutional channel.

Governance, Reporting & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory, compliance, and risk‑management standards.
  • Provide regular reporting on sales performance, pipeline health, market insights, and forecasts to senior leadership.
  • Manage regional budget, travel, and expense controls in line with company expectations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in institutional sales within life insurance, financial services, or related markets.
  • 5+ years of sales leadership experience engaging senior‑level sales professionals.
  • Deep understanding of institutional distribution channels and complex, consultative sales processes.
  • Series 6, 63, Life, Health, and Variable licenses.

Salary range is expected to be between

$65,000.00 USD - $108,300.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
