The Regional Business Director plays a critical role in bringing this mission to life—leading and developing the regional team, translating strategy into compliant field execution, and partnering across functions to remove barriers and expand appropriate access, helping ensure more patients can be found, supported, and treated. 

What You Will Achieve

The US Rare Disease Cardiac Rare Regional Business Director (RBD) develops, coaches, and leads the Cardiac Rare Regional Sales Team to deliver customer value and achieve agreed-upon sales objectives. 

This role partners closely with other RBDs, the Rare Disease Sales Leadership Team, Customer Facing Colleague (CFC) leaders, Key Account Management (KAM), Field Medical, Marketing, senior leadership, and other HQ functions to meet the needs of customers and the Cardiac Rare Cell field team. 

How You Will Achieve It

The Regional Business Director inspires and focuses the team by building an inclusive “Patients First” culture and communicating a compelling vision of success aligned with the broader US Rare Disease organization. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead regional strategy and execution for the Cardiac Rare business; align with other RBDs and cross-functional partners to deliver results compliantly. 

  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership bench (e.g., ABMs) through hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and succession planning. 

  • Create and sustain an inclusive Patients First culture that drives engagement, retention, and performance. 

  • Develop and execute regional, area, and territory business plans informed by customer insights, data, and POA priorities. 

  • Monitor performance and market dynamics; translate analytics into coaching, prioritization, and course-correction actions. 

  • Provide actionable insights to Marketing and HQ partners to inform strategy, resource allocation, and capability needs. 

  • Strengthen key customer and KOL relationships across rare disease/cardiology, including large academic centers, IDNs, and group practices. 

  • Optimize resource deployment (e.g., targeting, workload, promotional spend) to improve execution quality and profitability. 

  • Advance field force effectiveness by improving the customer-facing model, tools, and ways of working in partnership with Sales Training and other stakeholders. 

  • Role-model a culture of compliance; partner with Compliance and Legal to support routine monitoring and appropriate promotional practices. 

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.  

Basic Qualifications 

  • BA/BS required; 15+ years in pharma/biotech commercial roles (sales/marketing), including people leadership. 

  • Proven leader and coach who motivates teams, leads change, and delivers results. 

  • Demonstrated ability to partner compliantly across a matrix (e.g., Marketing, Medical, Access, Legal). 

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; able to use sales data and call-reporting tools to drive decisions. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to build engagement and manage performance. 

  • Track record of strong sales performance and consistently exceeding goals. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Recent Strategic commercial / Regional business leadership experience (e.g., RBD/RBM; strongly preferred). 

  • Recent rare disease, cardiology, and/or specialty care experience. 

  • Leadership experience managing large, diverse geographies. 

  • Experience engaging KOLs/high-influence customers (e.g., academic centers, IDNs, large group practices).

  • Geography: Cardiac Rare - Central Region 

  • Strongly preferred: Candidate resides in or near the Central Region (Eastern or Central time zones) which includes coverage within: FL, GA, AL, TN, KY, OH, IN, MI, IL, WI, MN. 

  • Travel: Approximately 50% to support the regional team, customer engagement, and HQ collaboration. 

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $214,900.00 to $358,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
