As a Start-Up Technician, you’ll be responsible for commissioning and optimizing commercial and supermarket refrigeration systems. You’ll ensure systems are operating safely, efficiently, and according to design specifications.
Key responsibilities include:
Perform evacuations and verify pressure tests on parallel rack systems
Complete start-up and commissioning of refrigeration racks and standalone systems
Wire and program Energy Management Systems (EMS) across multiple platforms
Lead smaller projects such as case replacements and condenser changeouts
Support energy optimization and retrofit projects, including:
EMS upgrades
Leak detection systems
Gas conversions and system performance improvements
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during start-up and post-installation
Partner with Service and Construction teams to support problem stores and field training
Serve as a technical resource for junior technicians and project teams
High school diploma or GED (trade school or technical training preferred)
5+ years of commercial refrigeration experience
Strong background with supermarket systems, including parallel racks (CO₂ experience is a plus)
3+ years working with EMS systems (CPC, Novar, Danfoss, etc.)
EPA Certification required (Type I & II minimum)
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to read and interpret refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing blueprints
Proficiency with system controls, oil management systems, and defrost strategies
Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
Comfortable leading small teams or projects when needed
Willingness to travel, including overnight stays and overtime as required
