Overview
Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager to perform a wide variety of secretarial, surgical scheduling, and administrative duties for the Surgical Services department. Assists in the coordination of the day-to-day operations within the perioperative departments. Responsible for PICIS scheduling and scheduling. com, and building strong relationships with other departments and physician offices. The Surgical Services Scheduler is responsible for performing secretarial duties such as answering phones, perform OR charges, enters patient information and follows up to physician offices.

What you will do

  • Maintains a working knowledge of facility, accreditating body, State and HIPAA compliance requirements. (National Patient Safety Goals).
  • Demonstrates ability to navigate systems to access patient information to facilitate transfers. Utilizes systems proficiently to communicate and order supplies, forms etc..
  • Demonstrates understanding of the importance of accurate and timely order entry, scheduling, positive case reporting to ensure customer service and safety.
  • Performs general receptionist duties for the department to include: answering the posting telephone, transferring calls, and scheduling surgical procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify and complete follow-up measures to resolve issues/concerns (between departments and with physicians and their practices).
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform scheduling and order entry utilizing the departmental/facility's assigned multiple computerized software system. Direct Admits as necessary.
  • Reconcile surgical/anesthesia/pacu times and staffing to capture all charges throughout surgical stay thus expediting charging process.
  • Promotes team work by working effectively as a team member as well as independently. Seeks assistance as needed. Consistently keeps team informed of changes as they arise, working closely with all team members to provide quality care and customer service.


Qualifications

Education

  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Associates Degree, (Preferred)
  • Bachelors Degree, (Preferred)


Experience

  • 1-3 years Surgical scheduling (Required)
  • 1-3 years Microsoft Office suite (Required)
