Red Team Summer Intern – AI & Offensive Security

CZE - Prague Full time

Gen Digital is a global leader in digital security, protecting over 400 million users under brands like Norton, Avira, Avast, AVG and Money Lion. We use advanced AI and machine learning to detect and stop online threats in real time across mobile, PC and Mac.

This full-time cybersecurity internship with the GTS Red Team runs from 15s July to 15s October and is primarily on-site at our offices in Prague or Brno. You’ll support applied research in AI-enabled offensive security, help build automation and tooling, and contribute to how we test and secure Gen Digital products. This role is ideal for a recent or soon-to-graduate student with strong curiosity about cybersecurity and AI and high motivation to learn.

Working with senior Red Team engineers and AI/ML experts, you will:

  • Assist with penetration tests of core networks and applications.

  • Help experiment with AI-assisted techniques (e.g. smarter recon, test-case generation, reporting).

  • Develop and maintain scripts and tools (mainly in Python and scripting languages).

  • Support lab/sandbox maintenance and contribute to reports, documentation and playbooks.

  • Follow strict ethical and responsible security practices at all times.

We’re looking for:

  • Programming/scripting basics (e.g. C/C++, Python, Bash, PowerShell).

  • Intro knowledge of Windows/Linux, networks and TCP/IP, plus awareness of common attacks (SQLi, XSS, privilege escalation, etc.).

  • Any exposure to tools like Nmap, Burp Suite, Metasploit, Wireshark is a plus, not a must.

  • Strong interest in AI/ML for security (LLMs for testing/reporting, ML for recon, etc.), ideally shown through coursework or personal projects.

  • English at B2+ level, curiosity, willingness to learn quickly, and a collaborative mindset.

What we offer:

  • A hands-on internship in an international Red Team.

  • Exposure to real-world offensive security and AI-driven research.

  • Mentorship, learning resources and potential support for certifications.

  • A dynamic, global work environment.
