Job Description

The Bike Intake Technician supports the bike service workflow by receiving and preparing used bicycles for assessment. This is an entry‑level, hands‑on role focused on intake, cleaning, and basic reassembly—not full mechanical repair. The ideal candidate has a working understanding of bicycle parts and assembly, is able to follow standard processes, and can work independently with consistency and care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Unbox incoming used bicycles and move them through the intake process
  • Clean bicycles to remove dirt, debris, and packaging residue
  • Reassemble bicycles to an intake‑ready state using established standards
  • Stage and organize bikes so they are ready for assessment by service teams
  • Follow written and visual work instructions accurately
  • Use basic problem‑solving skills to overcome common intake and assembly issues
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
  • Meet productivity and quality expectations with minimal supervision

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic working knowledge of bicycles and how they are assembled
  • Familiarity with common bike parts (frames, wheels, handlebars, seats, brakes, drivetrains)
  • Ability to use basic hand tools safely
  • Ability to work independently and stay on task
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency
  • Comfortable performing physical work, including standing, lifting, and repetitive motions
  • Dependable, self‑motivated, and willing to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience assembling bicycles (retail, warehouse, nonprofit, or personal experience)
  • Experience in a warehouse, production, or refurbishment environment
  • Interest in bikes, cycling, or hands‑on mechanical work

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move bicycles and bike cartons (up to [X] lbs.)
  • Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and use hand tools for extended periods

Work Environment

  • Warehouse or workshop setting
  • Moderate noise level
  • Use of basic hand tools and cleaning supplies
