About the Role:
The Recruitment Officer, Campus Visitors and Community Outreach is a fully trained Recruitment Officer (representing Brock at external school visits and fairs) with a focus on developing and leading campus visit programs and community/youth/educator engagement programs.
Reporting to the Manager, Recruitment Services, the Recruitment Officer, Campus Visitors and Community Outreach represents Brock among prospective students and influencers, and plans, implements and evaluates all aspects of the campus visit programs and community outreach activities. At the heart of the visit and outreach programs is a successful team of student ambassadors engaging audiences and representing Brock. The incumbent is jointly responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating an exemplary team of student staff.
The Recruitment Officer, Campus Visitors and Community Outreach will:
- Supervise and train student staff members (Brock Ambassadors) who are responsible for conducting campus tours year-round to welcome guests to Brock University;
- Coordinate and supervise Brock Ambassador participation at large-scale recruitment such as Fall Preview Day, March Break Campus Visits, Open House, and at external recruitment events (i.e. Ontario Universities’ Fair, community events, athletic and marketing events such as Steel Blade, Meridian Basketball Games);
- Plan and oversee daily tour operations including planning, scheduling, bookings, welcome, key messaging, group customization, and staffing for regular tours and special guests (Board of Trustees, Donors, International scholars and prospective students, varsity athletes, etc.);
- Engage in travel to represent Brock at external events, fairs, and individual school visits, providing information and performing presentations as required;
- Develop and implement a recruitment-oriented community engagement strategy to forge stronger ties among University students, faculty and staff, schools and the broader community;
- Explore and coordinate opportunities to strategically integrate faculty, students and staff into our community, particularly into schools, to share expertise and build relationships that will support our brand, strengthen relationships, enrich learning and facilitate pathways to Brock;
- Lead program planning and implementation (i.e. objectives, training, logistics, registration, equipment, promotional materials, giveaways, staffing, supervision, and evaluation, etc.);
- Coordinate a group of Residence Room Tour Attendants in order to showcase the Brock residence experience/campus life to prospective students and guests;
- Participate fully in key recruitment events such as the Ontario Universities’ Fair, Fall Preview Day, March Break programs, Open House, weekend tours and other events as needed;
- Recruit, screen, and train approximately 300 Brock student volunteers for large-scale recruitment events including Fall Preview Day, Open House, and the Ontario Universities’ Fair;
- Develop and administer volunteer training sessions to ensure accurate brand messaging and information delivery and to ensure customer service standards are met;
- Support preparation and implementation of events as required (i.e. Smart Start).
Key Skills and Experience:
- An undergraduate degree;
- Valid Ontario G class driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract;
- Supervisory, customer service, sales and/or marketing experience, including demonstrated success inspiring and coaching students/youth to deliver a message accurately and persuasively;
- Extensive knowledge base of the Brock undergraduate experience;
- Demonstrated supervisory and coaching skills, particularly among youth/student staff and volunteers;
- Strong technical/multimedia and computer competency skills, including knowledge of Office365 and social media platforms;
- Knowledge of program planning strategies, project management, and implementation;
- Exceptional sales and persuasion skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse and distinct groups;
- Proven ability to build and maintaining strong professional relationships at all levels of the University and with external groups and individuals;
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to demonstrate patience, compassion, understanding, and cultural sensitivity;
- Emotional intelligence to accurately interpret questions and understand prospective student inquiries/concerns;
- Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, intensely competitive environment;
- Ability to receive constructive feedback, and implement follow up/improvement plans;
- Flexibility, with the ability to quickly adjust to changes as required, in an environment where change is the norm;
- Comfortable travelling.
Preferred or Asset Skills:
- Graduate of Brock University;
- Previous experience in a college or university recruitment environment;
- Project Management certification or training;
- Youth and volunteer management experience;
- Experience with business travel;
- Experience with large-scale community events.
Salary and Total Rewards:
- Job Grade K, Salary Scale ($61,286 - $99,384):
- Target Hiring Range: $61,286 - $64,000 *
