The Opportunity
The Recreation Manager is responsible for leading and delivering Recreation Services to all clients within the facility. This role works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team to support and enhance client-centered care through meaningful recreation programming tailored to individual and neighbourhood needs.
What You Will Do
Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of clients’ recreation needs, interests, and goals to support meaningful engagement.
Design and implement individualized and group recreation programs tailored to both neighbourhood and individual needs.
Proactively anticipate and help prevent escalation of responsive behaviours through structured, therapeutic programming.
Deliver recreation interventions that promote participation in meaningful social, cognitive, emotional, and physical activities.
Support clients in achieving their health care goals through person-centered recreation therapy approaches.
Ensure programming provides a balanced therapeutic experience, including cognitive stimulation, social interaction, diversion, and physical activity.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and participate in care conferences, sharing updates on client participation and progress.
Lead and support recreation staff and volunteers while maintaining accountability for program quality and departmental budget.
What You Bring
Post-secondary education in Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Recreation Therapy within a healthcare setting
At least two (2) years of experience in program planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation in a seniors’ care environment
Strong knowledge of gerontology considered an asset
Experience with Activity Pro, PointClickCare, RAI-MDS, and care planning systems is an asset
Demonstrated passion for person-centered care and working with seniors
Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months)
