Park & Recreation Part Time

Pay Range: $18.00/hr | $37,440 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 6pm to 11pm, and weekends Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 11pm, hours will vary.  This is a part-time position with no benefits.

A part-time Recreation Assistant job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation at HAWS Athletics Center. The HAWS Athletics Division provides a variety of recreational sport programs and facilities year-round for Fort Worth residents of all ages which help relieve stress, enhance physical conditioning and enhance quality of life. With over 60 high-level competition sports fields serving over 20,000 participants yearly, the Athletics division has been perennially recognized as one of the best in the country for its programs and services. The Park & Recreation Department is recruiting for a committed and motivated Adult Sports Recreation Assistant for its Adult Athletics operations.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be 16 or older and no experience required

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification during the first six months of employment (Training provided).
  • Customer service experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

The Recreation Assistant job responsibilities include: 

  • Assists with ensuring all rules and regulations on the fields are enforced.
  • Will work at the fields as the first point of contact dealing with inquiries.
  • Ensuring the fields are clean of debris, and providing coverage at fields as needed.
  • Perform a variety of custodial and light maintenance duties.
  • This position will have heavy phone and public contact. 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing,

seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
