Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the FITNESS CENTER at Sheppard AFB, TX. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty; includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Major Duties:

  • Performs and/or assists other recreation staff in the operation and maintenance of the Fitness Center. Duties include, but not limited to, the following: Serves as front desk attendant; ensures only authorized patrons us the facility and equipment; maintains reservation systems for courts and fields; issues and receives equipment; maintains indoor/outdoor facilities; ensures equipment is clean and in good repair; inventories and restocks equipment; provides list of needed equipment to supervisor. Performs opening and closing duties and daily cleaning of equipment and facility. Reports damage or broken equipment to supervisor. Monitors facility usage to ensure all policies and directives are followed. Ensures reserved areas are ready for customer use; ensures lockers are clean and operable. Launders intramural checkout uniform items and facility towels. Assists with set up of facilities, grounds, and equipment for programs and special functions. Prepares athletic fields and playing surfaces for daily and seasonal competition, as needed. Assist customers with proper usage, function, and features regarding equipment and facility. Qualifying Experience: Must be at least 18 years old. Must have practical knowledge of fitness equipment, recreational activities, rules, and procedures. Must have experience in clerical or other office related work which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to carry items up to and including 50 pounds. Must satisfactorily pass a National Agency Check (NAC). Must have basic computer knowledge. Must obtain and retain valid, nationally recognized CPR (adult, child, and infant), First Aid, and AED. Must complete all mandatory training IAW AFI 34-266, Fitness, Sports, and World Class Athlete Program. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
