DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maximize collections in the Legal inventory.
  • Utilize negotiations to positively impact legal collections.
  • Review, verify and validate accounts prior to being sent to our Attorney Network after all collection’s efforts have been exhausted and no current payments made.
  • Work with the attorneys to negotiate voluntary repayment plans and/or for subsequent placement with attorney to pursue legal remedies to obtain judgement.
  • Manage the account through the legal process providing necessary documentation and assistance to the collections firm.
  • Achieve various standards and goals for servicing accounts without sacrificing quality of service, maintain adherence to Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) guidelines, and consistently represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Manage Inbound calls for accounts in the Legal, Short Sale and Sales inventory desks.
  • Lead as a team subject matter expert, assisting the supervisor and department with training, side-by-side coaching, and in coordinating and executing on the activities of the legal team to achieve assigned goals and meet productivity standards.
  • Complete projects, other duties and assignments as assigned by management.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for all Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing, Recovery, and Compliance policies as well as federal (FDCPA) and state collection laws.
  • May mentor more junior staff members.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 6+ years’ experience in the mortgage, legal, and/or collection industries.
  • 18 months experience as a SMS Attorney Performance I with a record of consistently achieving an exceptional level of production, quality, and effort.

  • Credit bureau reporting knowledge and skip tracing experience.
  • Knowledge of collection laws and processes related to mortgages.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across the organization.
