Job Summary: The position serves as a Records and Information Management Specialist located in the Department of Justice; Justice Management Division; Office of Records Management Policy (ORMP) in Washington, DC. The ORMP is responsible for the development and implementation of a modern records management program for the paper and electronic records of the Department.

Major Duties:

  • The duties and responsibilities for a Records and Information Management Specialist, GS-0308-13 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Improve electronic records management program areas (i.e. centralized electronic records functions, standardized handling/retention procedures, conversion from paper to electronic data, and innovation in searching). Experience with fundamental records management practices (i.e. conducting inventories, developing and maintaining file plans, drafting and implementing records schedules). Contribute to evaluation of component electronic records. Analyze problems and issues involving the development of records management systems, file and records procedures, and automation of information processing methods.

Qualifications: To qualify for the position of Records and Information Management Specialist, at GS-0308-13, you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service, which includes: Establishing records management programs for multi-functional organization and/or program; Developing records management polices or procedures; and Improving the effectiveness and efficiency in the life cycle management (i.e. creation, retention, maintenance, safeguarding, declassification and final disposition) of Department records and information. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by 03/30/2026 of this announcement.
