Who We Are
The mission of the Department of Recreational Sports is to promote activity, wellness, and development by providing high quality experiences and facilities for the students and community of Texas A&M University.

Salary: $21-36/hr (Commensurate based on experience)

Responsibilities
Course Preparation and Instruction
Teach minimum of twice per week according to the class schedule.
Respond to emails from supervisor in a timely manner.
Plan and/or choreograph lessons for each class.
Ensure the safety of all participants by demonstrating and educating on proper form and techniques learned in the training.
Educate participants in the benefits of exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
Ensure the safe use of exercise apparatus and equipment.
Provide motivation and support for all participants.
Maintain a high level of regular communication and accountability with all participants.
Continue personal growth and knowledge by attending mandatory training workshops.
Provide instructions in the monitoring of class enrollment by keeping up with class rosters and making sure everyone in class is registered for that class.
Coach and mentor new specialty class instructors in the delivery of class instruction.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.
Participation in group exercise, and experience in assisting or teaching.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers with First Aid must be obtained within 3 months of hire through Rec Sports and maintained throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
First Aid Certification.
Advanced certifications/experience leading Zumba and/or other dance formats such as Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, etc.
Expertise or certification in class format.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of the benefits of exercise
Basic understanding of the cardiovascular system, anatomy, and kinesiology
Moderate to high personal fitness level
Interpersonal and communication skills are essential
Training:
Complete training provided by Rec Sports Fitness & Wellness
Stay up to date on any required certification by acquiring CEC’s/CEU’s
Attend all mandatory staff meetings or trainings as required by the Fitness and Wellness professional staff.
Environmental Conditions:
Frequent lifting and carrying of equipment
Common muscle strains and sprains associated with exercise activity
Exposure to loud music
