This role is based in the Real-World & Clinical Data Strategy (RWCDS) team which drives data excellence and analytics to power enhanced decision-making and evidence-generation within Roche Product Development. We develop and implement data strategies that unlock the value of clinical, operational, and real-world data to accelerate evidence generation, decision-making, and innovation across Product Development (PDD) and beyond. By embedding FAIR principles, advancing data governance, and enabling data productization, RWCDS ensures that data is not only findable and usable, but also a driver of scientific rigor, regulatory readiness, and AI-powered transformation. Through deep partnerships with internal functions and external collaborators, we shape a future-ready data ecosystem that supports personalized healthcare and efficient drug development.

The Opportunity: 

The RWD Head - TA Lead Neurology is accountable for developing and executing strategies for the use of real-world data (RWD) to improve portfolio decision-making, clinical program design, and generate evidence to meet the needs of external stakeholders including regulators, payers, physicians, and patients. In this role, you will influence TA and DA-level data strategies, oversee a team of approximately 7-8 RWD Scientists to align delivery to clinical and business needs, and advance RWCDS’ ’s capabilities in RW evidence generation.

  • You partner with senior leaders and peers to influence TA and DA-level data strategies within Neurology leveraging subject matter expertise and deep understanding of the portfolio

  • You develop RW evidence generation strategies and plans within Neurology to enable improved portfolio decision-making, clinical  program design, commercialization objectives, and ongoing value-creating evidence

  • You develop deep relationships with senior leaders across functions (Clinical, Commercial, Medical, Value & Access, etc.) to not only sense RW evidence generation needs but pro-actively advise and influence planning

  • You oversee the integration and application of real-world data into evidence generation strategies, clinical development plans, and operational decisions

  • You define and implement standards for RWD quality, curation, and utilization across disease areas

  • You lead prioritization and resource management across RWD initiatives based on enterprise objectives and Therapeutic Area strategy

  • You ensure fit-for-purpose use of external RWD sources, including vendor relationship management and licensing strategies

  • You partner with clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, and access functions to ensure RWD is appropriately applied across its lifecycle

  • You establish functional excellence practices for RWD analytics, methodology, and data governance

  • You lead a team of RWD Scientists and growing leaders ensuring accountability for delivery, performance and development

  • You oversee hiring, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession management aligned to departmental capabilities and strategic growth areas

  • You coach and mentor team members to enhance their individual performance and long-term potential, developing future technical leaders across roles and backgrounds

  • You foster a high-performance, inclusive culture focused on collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement

  • You set development goals, conduct performance evaluations, and guide career progression based on business priorities and professional aspirations

  • You execute short-term department plans by managing priorities, budget, and capacity in coordination with function leadership

  • You influence senior stakeholders and functional leadership to secure alignment, resources, and sponsorship for technical priorities

Who you are:

  • You hold a Master’s or PhD in Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Public Health, or a related discipline

  • You have significant experience working with real-world data in pharmaceutical, health outcomes, or research settings;

  • Demonstrable leadership experience with a track record of building teams or leading cross-functional initiatives

  • You have proven expertise in RWD methods, data sources, and regulatory applications

  • You possess excellent communication and influencing skills, especially in cross-functional environments

  • You have the capacity for independent thinking and ability to make decisions based upon sound principles

  • You exhibit excellent strategic agility including problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and agility that extends beyond technical domain

  • You demonstrate respect for cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in the global workplace

  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically in the areas of presentation and writing, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear language

Preferred:

  • Experience contributing to HTA or regulatory submissions using RWE including PMR/PMC or PASS/PAES studies

  • Familiarity with longitudinal databases, claims, EHRs, or digital health data

  • Prior experience collaborating with data vendors and external consortia

  • Ability to drive data strategy and operations in complex matrix settings
