Position Summary

The Data Engineer will focus on developing, implementing, and optimizing the data infrastructure for new and existing retail stores in North America, and managing the systems utilized across the BSRO Real Estate department. This role involves building and maintaining databases, data pipelines, and tools necessary for research projects, including models for new store development and store remodel refresh selection. This role also acts as the system administrator for Lucernex, Kalibrate, and Service Channel, managing all aspects of system and user management. The Data Engineer will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of data used in managing sales transfers upon store closures. By providing robust data solutions, the Data Engineer will contribute to the company's growth and operational excellence, supporting Bridgestone West Retail's success and innovation.

Responsibilities

Data Integrity & Infrastructure

  • Develop, implement, and optimize data infrastructure to support market planning and strategy, leveraging demand-driven market intelligence and advanced sales forecasting models.

  • Enhance and maintain data infrastructure and end‑to‑end data workflows to support accurate and efficient monthly Real Estate spend reporting and forecasting, including ROU, CAPEX, OPEX, and Rent. 

  • Build and maintain databases, data pipelines, and tools to facilitate the analysis of consumer behavior, demographics, and competitive landscape data, contributing to growth strategies.

  • Provide technical support for research on competitive and market intelligence, including data integration and analysis; occasional domestic travel to key locations as needed.

  • Leverage innovative new technologies and approaches to renovate, extend, and transform the existing core data assets, including SQL-based, NoSQL-based, and Cloud-based data platforms.

Data Modeling & Reporting

  • Assist in gathering, processing, and analyzing data for the site selection process, considering factors such as growth strategy, market demand, demographics, traffic patterns, retail synergy, competition, and local regulations.

  • Build custom reporting via underlying data sets leveraging database coding language (SQL-based, NoSQL, etc.) and display complex data insights in easily digestible formats leveraging PowerBI, Tableau, etc.

  • Assist in preparing data-driven presentations for the Real Estate Research and Strategy portion of Capital Meetings with senior leadership.

  • Own and manage updates / refinement of existing executive Real Estate dashboards related to existing store metrics, characteristics, performance, etc.

Systems Administration & Management

  • Manage, inclusive of day-to-day operations and necessary updates, Lucernex (LX), Kalibrate (KLI), Service Channel, Crystal Reports, and SharePoint software applications for the Real Estate department.  In addition to supporting the day-to-day needs of the software (systems interface, data backup, user adds / removals, update security settings, mass updating of system info (Sales, Fixed Assets, Regional realignments, user management, password resets) the Data Engineer is the SME and will provide feedback on system capabilities and structure along with offering solutions for opportunities as they arise.

  • Responsible for creation of new sites, projects, and programs within Lucernex to support ongoing Real Estate department operations.

Additional General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, finance, legal, IT, marketing, and accounting, to ensure a seamless transition of data from development to the operational phase, as well as external partners and consultants.

  • Leverage enterprise standards for data domains and data solutions, focusing on simplified integration and streamlined operational and analytical uses.

  • Perform regular systems and vendor compliance audits in partnership with Bridgestone IT.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in a STEM major.

  • 5+ years working in a corporate setting with experience in retail and / or real estate

  • Experience working with solutions using elastic architectures (preferably Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform).

  • Any direct experience with a variety of SQL, NoSQL and Big Data Platforms.

  • Systems Administrator experience, preferably with Lucernex, Kalibrate, Service Channel, or similar real estate systems

  • Demonstrated strategic prowess, coupled with strong analytical and planning skills.

  • Ability to translate business requirements and specifications into reports, insights, and dashboards with minimal direction or oversight.

  • Elevated level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.

  • Minimal Domestic travel as needed to visit prospective markets and / or existing stores (5-10%)
