You’ll perform hands-on chemical analyses, syntheses, and polyurethane foam preparation using both laboratory and pilot-scale equipment, along with product performance testing.
With training and support, you’ll carry out routine chemical, instrumental, and physical testing, building confidence in established testing methods.
You’ll document and maintain accurate test results by following standard protocols and keeping organized lab notebooks and records.
You’ll help keep the lab running smoothly by performing routine equipment maintenance and instrument calibration, ensuring reliable and compliant testing.
As part of the lab team, you’ll support operational excellence initiatives, such as lab ordering, calibrations, and other day-to-day laboratory activities.
You’ll work independently on routine tasks, while receiving clear guidance and support when taking on new or more complex assignments.
You’ll actively support Momentive’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards, helping maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
The following are required for the role
An Associate’s degree (or equivalent technical education).
A strong personal and professional commitment to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), including the ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Ability to lift and carry up to 5-gallon containers weighing over 40 pounds.
Willingness to work hands-on with lab-scale and pilot-scale equipment.
Working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft Office.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and basic data interpretation.
Solid mathematical and reading skills to support laboratory calculations and documentation.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions while also working independently on routine tasks.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, collaborate with team members, and contribute positively in a group environment.
A customer-focused mindset, supporting both internal and external stakeholders.
Willingness to occasionally work extended hours as business needs require.
The following are preferred for the role:
BA/BS Chemistry
5+ years experience with chemical processing and/or pilot machine equipment will be considered in lieu of 4-year bachelor’s degree
Polyurethane chemistry experience
Application/product development experience
