R&D Senior Manager
Description -
This is an R&D Senior Manager position in the Large Format HW & Robotics Lab. You will be responsible for the development & delivery of Construction Services future products and will lead the SitePrint & EE section, which spans the Electrical Engineering (EE) discipline for the Design and Production businesses as well as a multidisciplinary team for Construction Services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the Construction Services & EE Section to define and deliver the assets and technologies (ME, FW, SW & EE) needed to support the Construction Services business, as well as the EE assets and technologies to support the LF business. Ensure alignment with Continuous Value Delivery (CVD) model and build a strong connection between business strategy and LF & Construction Services segments.
- Accountable for delivery to segments, programs and assets aligned with technology roadmaps and the Construction Services & LF Vintage Charts. Includes Assurance of Supply (AoS) for EE assets in conjunction with PPSC and Operations. Lead regular updates of AoS and timely elevation of information to the segments and LF Staff as part of the Vintage Chart process.
- Lead technology investigations and deliver solutions that strengthen the business and enable new and innovative ways to create and deliver customer value while optimizing quality, cost & efficiency. Bring a transformation mindset to the development of products and assets linking with new technologies and trends (e.g. Reality capture, AI, Simulation, Data Driven Design, External partner models,..)
- Lead initiatives in the Section and across the organization to drive continued improvement in new product development, customer value delivery, and future technologies. Promote excellence in EE discipline while also creating the necessary connections to maximize excellence in other disciplines.
- Ensure the integration of Construction Services into the lab, working with the sections to manage change and leverage potential synergies across technology roadmaps, development models, tools, tactical plan, innovation, new technologies, team development and engagement.
- Key interface for EE and Robotics partners across Print & PS for assets reuse / leverage.
- People manager for the Section. Manages M1´s, Segment Chief Engineers & Technologists. Build a strong and engaged multidisciplinary Section.
- Lead the section in all people processes and development activities. Develop a high-performance team, including on boarding of young and diverse talent, and ensure career development across the staff and teams. Maximize employee engagement for the broader team.
- Work in tandem with the labs staff, DT´s & technical/business leaders to ensure that we deliver HW & Robotics lab commitments with industry leading quality, predictability and at breakthrough cost.
- As a senior member of the Lab Staff, ensure a strong collaboration across teams and work to continuously improve & transform our R&D strategies, processes and performance. Participate in the LFP management team as part of the wider organization to grow the business
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Strong track record in new product development and related technology & systems development.
- Demonstrated experience in R&D, technology & product development with proven technology and processes understanding. Ideally with experience in both printing and robotics.
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience leading teams to develop and deliver new technologies & processes. Proven experience of creating and developing talent and high-performance cross functional teams including team building, motivation, negotiation, managing conflict, communication.
- Strategic thinker. Be able to focus on the mid/long term while executing on the short term. Business acumen.
- Strong customer focus. Role model on developing innovations that put customers at the center.
- Very strong partnership skills. Experience managing cross organizational and cross geographical developments. Demonstrated experience working with key technology partners both internally and externally. Role model in building strong connections to maximize team outcome
- Demonstrated experience of driver of change & transformation with a growth mindset. Ability to convince with rigor and facts as well as be the role model to drive new behaviors at all organizational levels and embrace technology disruptions to create better outcomes both in how we work and what we deliver to customers.
- Promote creativity and innovation while managing program & technology delivery risk. Demonstrated capacity to take balanced decisions and controlled risks.
- Highly motivated, results oriented and demonstrated senior people leadership.
