The opportunity:

Join Hitachi Energy’s India Development Centre (IDC), an R&D organization in Chennai and Bangalore. You will work with global R&D and research centers across 12 countries. You will help design and deliver digital solutions and product capabilities. You will build modern, secure, high-performing user interfaces. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to engineering best practices, and mentor other developers.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Build and maintain modern React applications using clean, reusable components and strong JavaScript skills.

• Define and follow solid UI architecture, folder structure, and coding standards.

• Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs for data fetching, caching, and error handling.

• Implement secure authentication and authorization flows, including token and session handling.

• Apply strong browser fundamentals including DOM behavior, events, storage, cookies, caching, and basic security.

• Improve UI performance by optimizing rendering, reducing bundle size, and managing memory efficiently.

• Debug and resolve UI, state, API integration, performance, and browser-related issues.

• Support and mentor junior developers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.

• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

• Required Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with 10+ years of experience building React-based web applications in an enterprise environment.

• Strong JavaScript skills with a focus on clean code and maintainable UI structure.

• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, error handling, and secure token/session management.

• Working knowledge of GraphQL (Apollo or similar) and modern state management (e.g., Redux Toolkit, React Query).

• Strong understanding of browser fundamentals (DOM, events, storage, cookies, caching) and basic web security.

• Work with global R&D teams across multiple countries and technology areas.

• Opportunities to learn, mentor, and grow through challenging product development work. Primary locations: Chennai (India Development Centre).

• Proven troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
