Position Overview

The R&D Laboratory Operations Technician II will provide world class service and support for common R&D laboratory functions. The position is expected to follow detailed instructions and established procedures with minimal supervision. Duties include sample preparation, lab organization, equipment maintenance, and miscellaneous tasks to help the labs run efficiently.

This position will be onsite in San Diego, CA.

Essential Duties

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform laboratory procedures to assist the Research and Development department.
  • Perform daily work assignments accurately and in a safe and timely manner.
  • Perform equipment maintenance.
  • Prepare samples.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and consumables.
  • Assist with the production of assay controls.
  • Coordinate logistics with other departments for new equipment installation or relocation.
  • Monitor labs for compliance with safety requirements and attend safety committee meetings as required.
  • Ability to practice autonomy in decision making as it relates to the actions needed when completing laboratory tasks.
  • Ability to perform a variety of simple laboratory tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow detailed written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to complete assignments in expected time frame.
  • Ability to effectively work on several tasks with changing priorities.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Assist or lead improvement projects.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
  • Cover shipping and receiving area during personnel absences.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Constant walking or motion to communicate work and interact with co-workers.
  • Ability to work with blood, tissue or stool.
  • Ability to use and wear safety protective gear/equipment (e.g. safety glasses, lab coat, gloves, beard nets, hair nets, booties, hearing protection, etc.) and follow safety guidelines while in the lab, etc., for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Biology or a related field with 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience, or an Associate’s degree/certificate/diploma in laboratory science with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience; GMP environment preferred.
  • Good documentation practices necessary for a cGMP environment.
  • Ability to understand and apply GMPs to everyday work with regards to documentation and instrument use.
  • Experience following standard operating procedures.
  • General laboratory equipment experience, including operation of centrifuges, pH meters, spectrophotometers, thermal cyclers, pipettes and balances.
  • Ability to maintain laboratory notebook and complete all laboratory documentation in clear and accurate language and according to SOP.
  • Ability to use Excel, Word, and other office systems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Quality System Procedures.

Salary Range:

$48,000 - $72,000

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - CA - San Diego on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
