Job Description
The R&D Engineer supports both the R&D Lab and Regulatory Compliance teams. This role is responsible for assisting in the design, planning, and execution of product testing and ensuring code compliance through technical analysis and documentation. The position combines hands-on test execution with analytical review of building codes, standards, and test data. It plays a critical role in supporting product development, code evaluations, and regulatory approvals.Job Responsibilities & Requirements
This role will work onsite 5 days/week based in Earth City, MO.
Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and executing test plans based on product requirements, design inputs, and relevant codes or standards.
Set up and conduct physical tests, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection in collaboration with lab technicians.
Analyze test data and perform statistical calculations to support product performance validation and code compliance.
Review and interpret building codes, standards, and technical documents, and communicate findings to internal teams.
Support the preparation of technical documentation such as code evaluation reports, test summaries, and product listings.
Assist in the design and fabrication of test fixtures and prototypes as needed for testing activities.
Conduct technical research and prepare documentation in support of code evaluation reports and regulatory submittals.
Maintain a safe and organized lab environment and ensure testing activities comply with safety and calibration protocols.
Document and escalate any test anomalies, deviations, or regulatory concerns to the appropriate stakeholders.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to support new product development, regulatory approvals, and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required
1-2 years of related engineering experience preferred
Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis
Excellent communication, adaptability, critical thinking, and collaboration skills are required
Prior experience working in a lab testing setting preferred
Experience with electrical, controls or hydraulic components preferred
