DUTIES:
(Actions required to be performed by personnel filling this position, but not limited to.)
· Interpret and implement technical drawings, specifications, and engineering plans. Liaise with design engineers to clarify technical details and incorporate design modifications as required.
· Review/Accept/Comment technical submittals/contractor proposals including shop drawings, calculations, material submittals and general site queries.
· Supervise and manage day-to-day site operations and ensure construction activities align with approved engineering plans.
· Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to maintain schedule and quality.
· Participate in project planning meetings and contribute to the development of construction methodologies and risk assessments.
· Assist in resolving technical issues and construction problems on-site.
· Develop and implement ‘Inspection & Testing Plan’ to maintain project standards and quality.
· Monitor and verify materials delivered to the site are in accordance with project specifications and ensure proper usage and storage.
· Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and environmental, health and safety regulations.
· Conduct site inspections and surveys to monitor progress, identify issues, take site photos and recommend corrective actions. General inspections of items such as:
o Review CBR (or other types of tests) results and other geotechnical test reports to verify subgrade strength and suitability prior to substrate construction
o Subgrade inspection and proof rolling to verify compaction, identify soft spots, and ensure uniformity before placement of base material.
o Destructive and non-destructive compaction testing of subgrade, road base, trench backfill, and pavement layers.
o Concrete works inspections, including formwork, reinforcement, slump testing, and concrete strength testing
o Pressure testing of water mains and other water infrastructure to verify system integrity and leak-free performance.
o Hydrostatic and air testing of sewer and stormwater pipelines to confirm compliance with authority requirements
o Level surveys and set-out verification prior to construction of roads, culverts, drainage structures, and retaining walls
o Pavement conformance testing, including surface level, thickness checks, camber checks and core sampling.
o Erosion and sediment control inspections to ensure environmental compliance.
o Final inspections and conformance documentation for handover to clients, authorities, or asset owners.
· Analyse contractor survey data and as-built drawing information to identify and resolve issues or non-compliances.
· Prepare and maintain site progress & quality reports and photographic records detailing general inspections, construction activities, progress, challenges, non-conformances, solutions and actions. Forward copy of site diary to project administrator and project document controller on weekly basis.
· Mark-up drawings illustrating construction progress. Forward copy of mark-ups to project administrator and project document controller on a weekly basis.
