What is the opportunity?

We now have an opportunity for a New Business Checking Associate to join our expanding team.

The New Business Checking Associate will support the activities of the Financial Planning Central Management team and the Head of Financial Planning Operations through undertaking desk-based monitoring and risk analysis to monitor the activities across new business cases within RBC Brewin Dolphin’s Financial Planning team.

The role will also support and champion the adoption of a new policy, process and controls, using key control metrics and business MI to identify risk and recommend proportionate remediation, including the provision of training requirements or process and control improvements. All of which will contribute to improved governance and culture within the client facing teams.

RBC’s expectation is that all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

What will you do? 

  • Monitor and review all new business submissions across the financial planning teams.

  • Ensure all checks are completed within time frames.

  • Support team members and front office teams with complex queries.

  • Communicate case check outcomes to the Client Facing Teams.

  • Stay up to date with keys changes to policies and procedures which may impact on the checks being carried out.

  • Review and test effectiveness of existing controls.

  • Liaise and assist as required with other RBC Brewin Dolphin Functions, including, Risk and Compliance, Operations and Internal Audit in all matters pertaining to monitoring and Investment Governance work.

  • Conduct monitoring activities in relation to front office using a combination of regular monitoring, exception-based monitoring, thematic review work

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have 

  • Proven experience working within the Wealth Management/Financial Planning. This role would suit someone with experience in financial planning administration, operations, client onboarding, paraplanning, compliance or other related roles.

  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Inquisitive nature and willing to challenge where necessary

  • Focused on doing what is right for the client.

Nice-to-have 

  • Working towards or attained CII Diploma preferable, though we are happy to consider those with experience to compensate for lack of qualifications.
