Why this role matters  

The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest providers of homelessness services. Rising living costs, low rental vacancy rates and limited affordable housing options have created significant barriers for people seeking stable accommodation. The Rapid Rehousing program provides intensive, timely support to individuals in crisis accommodation who are ready to transition into private rental, helping them secure housing and stabilise their lives.  

About the role  

As a Rapid Rehousing Worker, this is your opportunity to provide intensive, shortterm support to individuals placed in crisis or emergency accommodation who have been assessed as privaterental ready. You will work alongside clients to secure private rental, coordinate accommodation cocontributions, and provide up to four weeks of interim support once they have moved into their new home.  

Reporting to the Team Leader – Homelessness Barwon, this is a max-termpart time position, 30.4 hours per week, contracted for 12 months, locatedonsite in Geelong, VIC. 

Conditions  

Compensation is in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award Level 5.  

How you will make an impact  

  • Provide intensive case management support to clients in emergency accommodation to help them secure private rental
  • Complete assessments, develop case plans, and coordinate referrals to relevant support services
  • Assist clients with rental applications, inspections, documentation, and advocacy with real estate agents and landlords
  • Book and monitor motel accommodation and liaise with the adult entry point regarding cocontribution payments
  • Maintain accurate case notes, data collection, and administrative compliance with funding and service requirements

What you will bring  

  • A tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field, or Certificate qualification with substantial relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in homelessness services, housing support, case management, real estate/ property management experience
  • Strong understanding of the Victorian Homelessness & Housing Service System, tenancy law, and housing pathways
  • Ability to work calmly and constructively in pressured or unpredictable situations
  • Welldeveloped communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • A current Victorian Employee Working With Children Check  
  • Highlevel administrative skills and confidence using client management systems
