Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is seeking a proactive, self-motivated Signalling/System RAM Engineer who thrives in dynamic environments. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from operational to strategic activities. The position is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

About the Position:

As a Signalling/System RAM Engineer, you will be part of Hitachi Rail’s RAM team within the Signalling and Rail Solutions Line of Business. In this role, you will be appointed as the RAM Lead for a turnkey project based in Abu Dhabi. The RAM Lead is responsible for deploying the RAM program throughout the entire project lifecycle, including forecasting, planning and execution of all RAM-related activities.

RAM Lead implements and coordinates the System RAM deliverables and analyses, ensuring alignment with state‑of‑the‑art methodologies, relevant standards, and project requirements.

RAM Lead is coordinated by System Assurance Manager while hierarchically reporting to Head of RAM for Turnkey and Complex Signalling function.

Key Accountabilities:

Ensure execution of the RAM activities throughout the project in accordance with Hitachi Rail process and guidelines.

As RAM Lead for a turnkey project, the following skills are required:

  • Have at least 10 years of relevant railway experience in working/managing relevant System RAM work.
  • Have worked in the System RAM of at least one railway project of similar nature.
  • Have extensive experience in performing relevant System RAM analysis and modelling.
  • Have success track records of working in relevant System RAM work in accordance with relevant standards applicable to respective disciplines.
  • Have reasonable technical understanding of the various civil systems, high speed railway systems including rolling stock and Depot/Maintenance systems; and
  • Be based full-time in the local project site office in UAE for the duration of the work in project.

Key Experience Preferred:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of Isograph Software or equivalent is a plus
  • Signalling/System RAM activities execution, planning, budget forecast and management of all RAM-related topics  
  • Performing Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis
  • Performing Reliability modeling techniques, RBDs, FTA, Markov Chains, Petri-Nets etc.
  • Performing Life Cycle Cost analysis
  • Knowledge of the main International standards for RAM aspects
  • Products reliability predictions according to International Standards IEC 61709:2017, MIL-HDBK 217F, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing and execution of a FRACAS process
  • Manage internal and external interfaces with other departments, suppliers, partners and clients
  • Ensure development, improvement and implementation of RAM standard processes and activities.

Education/Qualifications Preferred:

Engineering Degree or Equivalent Technical Background
