The Radiology Lead Technologists and Clerks are entrusted to oversee daily operations in their respected areas, insure that supplies for the area are ordered and the work area is clean and maintained. This individual is given the task to oversee adequate staff coverage for their area and provide leadership to staff.

Required Qualifications:
Lead Technologist:
- Completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Registered or Registry Eligible
- NM State Certification for Radiologic Technology
- BLS certification
- Physical demands: lifting a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
Lead Clerk:
- Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience
- BLS certification
- Physical demands: Lifting a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Radiology field
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership at a professional and technical level not requiring constant supervision utilizing industry standards.
- Insures adequate coverage in department.
- Updates and maintains policies and protocols for area.
- Participates in selection of equipment and employees for work area.
- Oversees the training and competency of new employees in respective areas.
- Addresses disciplinary and counseling issues to employees as needed.
- Performs performance evaluations for direct report staff.
- Ensures that work area meets state, federal and other regulatory agency requirements.
- Works with Radiology Director/Manager to ensure the quality of care in the department.
- Provide knowledgeable coverage for the O.R. and E.D. departments as needed
- Understand the usage of the D.R. (digital radiography) systems.
- Understand the transfer and viewing of images through the P.A.C.S. system
- Understand the ordering system through the R.I.S. (Radiology Information System)
- Maintain, clean, and re-stock each radiologic exam room when procedure is completed
- Transportation of patients as needed.
- Adheres to radiology dress code.
- Maintains confidentiality of all Hospital matters (i.e., HIPAA)
- Practices good communication skills.
- Conducts self in a professional manner consistent with the values of San Juan Regional Medical Center.
- Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs. Attends meetings, workshops, and conventions to increase clinical and/or technical skills.
- Provide professional communication with staff and patients

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
- Exposure to radiation hazards through radiology procedures
- Exposure to body fluids through direct contact, IV procedures, infection and/or contagious diseases
- Must be physically able to lift, move, push, or pull patients.
- Provide multiple and directional guidance during procedures to patients with care and compassion
- Interaction with potential verbally abusive patients
