Job Details:

The Mercer Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Care clinic in Macon, GA is searching for a Radiologic Technologist.


 

Responsibilities:

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing quality diagnostic X-ray examinations in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and applicable state and federal regulations. This role requires strong patient care skills, technical proficiency, and a commitment to safety, accuracy, and professionalism, including effective and timely communication with physicians, radiologists, and clinical staff to ensure appropriate exam selection, image quality, and continuity of patient care.

As the radiology schedule permits, the technologist may assist with direct patient care and clinical support activities, including triaging patients; obtaining and documenting vital signs; assisting with medication refill requests, referrals, and prior authorizations; gathering pertinent clinical information; and communicating patient needs or concerns to the appropriate clinical team members, in accordance with organizational policies and scope-of-practice guidelines.

Additionally, this position will be cross-trained in mammography.


Qualifications:

An associate's degree and completion of a AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology, current certification from the American Registry of Radiology Technology (ARRT), and current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (or completion upon hire) are required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of X-ray equipment.

  • Produce a computer-generated or film image for interpretation by a physician.

  • ​Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed, using computer and following physician's prescription.

  • Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras. 

  • Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment. 

  • Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures.

  • Prepare stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients. 

  • Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during test procedures.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-based, academic clinical environment.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail necessary to ensure accuracy in all tasks and documentation.

  • Ability to handle frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of patients or equipment up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
