Job Title: Radiologic Technologist – Cath Lab
FULL TIME - 1ST SHIFT
The Cath lab is a procedure area that performs minimally invasive cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures: Cath, PCI for STEMI, cardioversion, tilt table testing, and transesophageal echocardiography. A highly skilled, multidisciplinary team is available 24/7 to meet the needs of the community as a chest pain accredited facility for ACS (acute coronary syndrome or acute MI). Patients are scheduled for outpatient procedures as well as urgent and emergent. The cath lab is staffed with registered nurses and radiology technologists.
Job Description:
Provides health care services using medical imaging techniques to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Performs care requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and skill. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
- Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
- Explain and prepare the patient for all cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure.
- Responsible for performing all related exams within the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
- Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the cardiac catheterization department, selecting technical factors to insure high-quality radiographs, digital imaging using the A.L.A.R.A. (as low as reasonably achievable) standards.
- Performs various clerical duties including, but not limited to:
- Verification of patient identification using 2 identifiers, exams performed, and able to perform “Time Out” with appropriate personnel.
- Corroborates patient’s clinical history with procedure, assuring information if documented and available.
- Ensures the correct billing of patient charges for equipment and procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to capture the correct documentation to include procedure, supplies, room times, etc. in Sensis.
- Checks stock inventory and initiates order deficiencies to stock personnel or management.
Requirements:
- Certification (or eligible) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Radiography
- State Radiation Operator Certification
- Graduate of a Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) program or equivalent
- BLS and ACLS certification within six months of hire
