Radioconjugate Delivery Lead, Oncology Targeted Discovery

The role

The Radioconjugates Delivery Lead — within the Oncology Targeted Delivery organization— supports end-to-end delivery of this new therapeutic modality from discovery to commercialization. This role is critical in orchestrating cross-functional execution, acting as a force multiplier and organizer within teams of R&D, Commercial and Operations experts. 

You will report to the SVP, Biologics Engineering & Oncology Targeted Discovery, lead the Radioconjugates Leaders Forum and be accountable for delivery of our ambitious radioconjugates portfolio and new capability build. 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Portfolio Delivery: Drive end-to-end execution of the radioconjugates portfolio from discovery through commercialization, monitoring delivery, identifying and elevating risks and interdependencies 
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Act as the central coordination point across R&D, Commercial, and Operations teams, facilitating seamless collaboration and removing barriers to enable efficient decision-making and execution
  • Radioconjugates Leaders Forum: Lead and chair the Radioconjugates Leaders Forum, setting strategic direction, driving alignment on priorities, and ensuring effective governance of the radioconjugates program
  • Capability Building: Oversee the development and implementation of new radioconjugates capabilities, including infrastructure, processes, expertise, and partnerships required to establish AstraZeneca as a leader in this emerging modality
  • Strategic Planning & Risk Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive delivery plans, proactively identify risks and dependencies, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure portfolio success
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, regulatory bodies, manufacturing partners, and academic collaborators to advance radioconjugates objectives
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators and tracking mechanisms to monitor progress, drive accountability, and communicate portfolio status to senior leadership and key stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD degree) in a relevant scientific discipline such as Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • MBA degree desired
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in drug development and/or manufacturing
  • Direct experience with radioconjugates or radiopharmaceuticals is required, with exposure to the end-to-end development lifecycle and understanding of the operational, regulatory, and commercial challenges specific to this modality
  • Relevant experience with radioconjugate therapeutics and the unique complexities associated with their development, manufacturing, and commercialization, preferably in a global, matrixed organization
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex drug development programs from early research through clinical stages
  • Experience working across multiple functions including R&D, Manufacturing/Operations, Regulatory, and Commercial organizations
  • Demonstrated success in building new capabilities, establishing processes, or launching novel therapeutic modalities within a pharmaceutical setting

  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams, external partners, regulatory agencies, and academic collaborators
  • Change Management: Experience driving organizational change and building new ways of working in matrixed, global organizations

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $172,466 – 258,699. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
