Location: Silver Spring, Marland

Position Purpose:

Administers ionizing radiation therapy to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.  Collaborates with the physicist, dosimetrist, chief therapist, and Radiation Oncologist in the planning and simulation of treatments.

Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital. 

As a Radiation Therapist you will:

  • Apply ionizing radiation to patients according to physician prescription, noting any changes to prescription during course of Rx.
  • Review and maintain daily treatment records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assesses patient condition from medical documentation and observe patients for unusual reaction resulting from treatment.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients in a sensitive manner.
  • Participate in simulation and mold room procedures.
  • Solve problems that arise with routine set-ups.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Understand dosimetry procedures and perform basic treatment time calculations.
  • Prepare room and equipment for patients according to prescriptions regarding immobilization devices and treatment parameters.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) approved Radiological Technology Program.  Bachelor’s preferred.
  • ARRT certification.
  • Current licensure by the state of Maryland to practice radiation therapy.
  • At least one year of experience as a therapist in a radiation oncology facility.
  • Experience using linear accelerators with multi-leaf columnators, CT simulators, and  HDR therapy is preferred.

Pay Range: $39.04-58.56. Pay is based on experience, skills and education.  Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.  The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
