In this position, you will get to:
Leading a team of smart engineers to provide the leadership to product development activities of CDU’s
Lead the team of designers, Sr. Designers and SME’s Designer Specialists to ensure designs meet customer requirements, are optimized for manufacturability, incorporate standard processes, etc.
Perform the component selection, sizing and arrive at optimal cost effective design solutions
Have an understanding on the competitor products to benchmark, analyze and understand the current product gaps and introduce the solutions to overcome these in current or New products as needed
Team up with operations leadership, manufacturing engineers, and quality engineers to simplify designs and improve manufacturability.
Specify purchased part requirements and work with Supply Leaders to source parts for use in designs.
Work with multi-functional teams to help launch products by taking market specifications from design to prototype to production. This covers both branded platform products and products engineered for specific customer applications.
Apply specific technological expertise to projects (i.e. Heat Transfer, Hydraulic Network Design, Sheet Metal Design, Weldment Design, etc).
Work closely with Sales and Marketing/Global Stakeholders to partner with Cross function team, customers, engage in industry partnerships, and establish other relationships enabling us to advance our product and technology reach.
Collaborate with Engineering/Project Leaders on tasks scope, time lines and ensure the project work.
Design test specifications and protocols, coordinate testing in our world class laboratory facility, and help review test reports for the completion and accuracy of information.
Direct outside test activities such as regulatory or other third party testing.
Work with outside vendors and help develop designs and related technologies
You have:
Academic background in Bachelor’s/Masters degree in Mechanical
Previous experience in or with 12+ years of work experience preferably with exposure to Datacenter/cooling Product design with at least 5 years of experience in leading the teams
Proven track record of working with Electromechanical systems with an exposure to structural and Thermal design
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively coordinate multi-functional teams and resolve conflicts
Experience in performance management, including setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting evaluations
Ability to motivate team members, recognize achievements, and support professional growth
Skilled in resource planning, delegation, and workload balancing to ensure project success
Experience in recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top engineering talent
Knowledge of Sheet metal design and knowledge of manufacturing processes is a must
Knowledge of P&ID/ Hydraulic networks and schematic Diagrams will be a plus
Experience in design and failure analysis tools such as DFMEA, 8D/RCCM etc.
Ability to design components and assemblies using 3D CAD systems (i.e. SolidWorks) and knowledge will Enovia will be a plus
Knowledge of psychometric analysis and refrigeration a plus.
