Provo City Police Department is hiring for a part-time quartermaster technician to provide administrative and technical support work in the police evidence room. This position is responsible for clerical and technical support work in the Support Services Division of the Provo Police Department. What is the compensation?

Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour (depending on experience)

What are the main duties?

  • Receive and secure found property and safekeeping items.

  • Ensure that all items received are packaged and labeled correctly.

  • Maintain manual and/or computerized records of all items received, processed, and dispersed.

  • Determine appropriate and lawful disposition of property including property destruction as needed and in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, and statutes.

  • Release property to owners.

  • Maintain an accurate accounting of all property transfers and releases.

  • Perform or assist in performing inventory checks and/or audits of found property and safekeeping items.

  • Perform quartermaster duties including maintaining current and accurate records on all department property.

  • Ensure accurate distribution, tracking, and subsequent collection of all equipment and department items.

  • Coordinate with supervisor on needed equipment and/or supplies and ensure they are ordered, received, and distributed in a timely manner.

  • Ensure equipment receives proper maintenance and make general repairs as needed.

  • Maintain evidence packaging supplies and perform other work as needed. 

 

What are the requirements to apply?

Provo City will honor an equivalent combination of job-related education and experience.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • One year of clerical, administrative support, or related experience that demonstrates strong attention to detail and organization.

  • Valid, lawful driver license.

  • Preference given for direct inventory control or law enforcement program experience.

 

What is the schedule?

This position works 25 hours per week, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

 

What is the selection process?

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on May 11, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

 

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
