As a Quantum Research Data Scientist, you will leverage advanced statistical, mathematical, and machine learning techniques to develop innovative algorithms and deliver high-impact analytics that drive biomedical research insights. In this role, you will design, simulate, and implement quantum and hybrid algorithms to solve complex computational challenges, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to advance research initiatives. You will serve as a team lead, providing mentorship, training, and technical guidance to support the growth and effectiveness of team members.

A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Utilize methods in the areas of quantum information science, quantum algorithms, and hybrid quantum-classical workflows to design and implement advanced computational solutions.

  • Build complex Hamiltonian models, quantum circuit-level designs, and other advanced mathematical or physical models as needed by using specialized quantum programming tools such as Qiskit.

  • Develop methods, novel algorithms and/or high-level data analysis that integrates implementation, visualization and database management of multi-dimensional clinical or biological datasets.

  • Serve as a team lead to the Principal Investigator, providing training, mentoring and instruction to other lab members in tools and data analysis.

  • Communicate and present research findings to Principal Investigator, greater research community and forums.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • M.S. or PhD in computer science/statistics/software engineering/bioinformatics or related field and three years of related experience, working with statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis

  • OR Bachelor’s degree and six years of related experience

  • OR Master’s degree in related field and one year of related experience, working with statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis

  • OR PhD in related field

  • Highly proficient with programing skills in languages such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB or similar

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • PhD in Quantum computing, quantum information science, or physics

  • Demonstrated expertise in Quantum Information Science (QIS) and in the quantum circuit-level design and implementation of algorithms

  • Experience with error mitigation techniques, noise modeling, and circuit optimization for near-term quantum devices

  • Hands-on experience with IBM Quantum hardware and software platforms

  • Strong programming skills and experience with the latest version of Qiskit

  • Experience with biomedical datasets

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

  • In some locations, ability to move up to 15 pounds
