Role Description
- The Algorithmic Solutions (AlgoS) team is seeking a Quantitative Strategist Specialist to drive the implementation of regulatory calculations and reporting within the bank. Regulatory calculations are often complex computations and classifications that banks must perform to comply with legal and supervisory requirements. The results of these calculations are integral to internal bank management and form the basis of external reporting to regulatory authorities.
- As a Quantitative Strategist Specialist in the AlgoS team, you will design, develop, and implement solutions by directly programming quantitative and regulatory strategic models and rule sets (using SAS, Python, C++, etc.). Your deep subject matter expertise and strong technical programming skills will be crucial in enabling the delivery of general strategic initiatives, specific bank-wide projects, or functional enhancements. You will lead and independently deliver specific work packages, both as standalone tasks and as part of broader initiatives and projects.

Your key responsibilities
- Developing strategies for requirements analysis and translation, and overseeing the business implementation from prototype through to final acceptance.
- Managing the business and technical concepts related to regulatory calculations and reporting.
- Creating specialist analyses and methodological papers, and supporting preliminary studies, including the presentation of potential implementation options.
- Conducting ad-hoc data analyses, providing analytical support to clients, and continuously monitoring models and rule sets for potential adjustment needs.
- Communicating results and changes to a diverse range of relevant stakeholders across different divisions and levels of seniority.
- Coordinating a team of Quantitative Strategist specialists and analysts, ensuring efficient collaboration within your relevant business/technical area.
Your skills and experience
- Strong educational background in Engineering/Science, preferably from top tier colleges in India.
- A degree from a recognised university (Master's, Diploma and/or PhD) in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Finance/Statistics) with a focus on the practical application of theoretical knowledge.
- In-depth knowledge of European banking regulations and accounting standards (e.g., CRR, IFRS 9) and reporting frameworks (e.g., COREP, FINREP, or AnaCredit). A strong understanding of capital requirements for risk coverage, particularly for credit risk, and experience implementing credit risk parameter models (PD, LGD, CCF). This should be complemented by knowledge of financial products/derivatives, bank balance sheet accounting, and extensive practical application, or additional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, or Regulatory Reporting Specialist.
- At least 5 years of experience of leading large, complex projects within a bank or financial institution in a global team environment. Advanced skills and practical experience with relevant statistical and other software packages (at a minimum SAS and Python) using large datasets.
- Exceptional analytical abilities and a strong aptitude for solving conceptual problems, combined with the capacity to work with a high degree of independence and the flexibility to learn new skills and work under pressure when required.
- Extensive, hands-on experience in developing high-quality software within a regulated environment, including familiarity with necessary processes (e.g., SDLC, documentation, Git). Regular, practical programming of applications/functions in SAS, Python, or C++ on both Windows and Linux platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (full professional proficiency).
