FIS is solving some of the most challenging problems in the Financial Services industry and are looking for talented and experienced engineers to join the Enterprise Risk Suite Core Technology team. The FIS Enterprise Risk Suite is an award winning and industry leading Market and Credit Risk Analysis and Reporting platform, ranked first in the industry by Chartis Research. Our clients include many of the largest banks and hedge funds in the world.
About the role:
You will be working as part of an international team primarily responsible for our FIS Risk Analytics Manager (a high volume and high-performance valuation and risk calculation engine) but will also work on other related components that comprise the solution suite. Active development is in C#, although there is a small amount of C++ code that is also maintained by the team. The position is a hybrid work from home and from an office location.
What you will be doing
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of quantitative and software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Oversee project delivery, ensuring robust, scalable, high-performance, high-quality software is built using modern technology in collaboration with the team
- Take responsibility for the team’s output: guide code reviews, documentation, automated testing, performance analysis, continuous integration, static code analysis, and deployment configuration
- Manage and resolve bugs and performance issues reported by clients, coordinating with other teams and software components, both internal and external
- Support proof-of-concept prototypes to demonstrate technology to clients, often in collaboration with pre-sales teams
- Proactively suggest and drive new ideas and technical improvements to enhance usability, performance, or maintainability of the product
- Engage in the agile process, providing leadership in planning and scoping new features, and ensuring regular and accurate status updates of ongoing projects
- Share ideas, knowledge, and experience with other team members, and facilitate knowledge sharing across the team
- Handle line management responsibilities, including performance reviews, career development, and team wellbeing.
- Run the Quantitative Support Desk (QSD) for key clients
- Coordinate project management activities, including resource planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication
What you bring:
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Excellent communication and management skills
- Proven experience in line management and project management within a technical team
- Excellent software engineering and problem-solving skills
- A passion for solving complex problems with high performance and high-quality code
- Experience working on large scale complex systems
- A solid grounding in computer science principles - knowledge of algorithms, data structures, algorithmic complexity etc.
- Extensive experience with C# and an in depth understanding of the .NET framework
Additional Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of the financial sector
- Worked with other programming languages e.g., C++
- Experience working with performance/memory profilers and high-performance codebases
- Experience working on multithreaded algorithms and data structures
- Experience working on distributed systems
- Knowledge of OLAP concepts
- Experience with Redis/Kafka/Docker/Kubernetes/AWS/Linux
- Strong API design skills
