The Product Preparation Technician is responsible for performing all activities associated with receiving, inspecting, and preparing products for quality control inspection. This includes product preparation and deburring, uncrating and cleaning components, applying permanent traceability markings, and documenting any damage or nonconformance (NCAR) as applicable. The role ensures all parts meet required specifications and are properly prepared for the next stage in the quality and production process.
Key Responsibilities
Incoming Product Identification & Verification:
Run system Priority Report to determine daily processing needs.
Locate incoming parts in the PREP holding area and verify correct part and PO number.
Confirm part quantities match receiving documents and review notes for engineering review requirements.
Coordination With Multiple Departments:
Stamp proper identification for parts.
Transfer parts in system to next stages of production.
Incoming Inspection & Part Preparation:
Inspect crates and parts for damage; escalate concerns as needed.
Remove grease, deburr edges, and repair cosmetic issues.
Mark parts according to PR7.1-2 or historical practices.
Apply rust-preventive spray and stage completed parts on pallets.
Documentation & Recordkeeping:
Complete Incoming Quality Record (FORM 8.2.4-12) for each part.
Ensure accurate traceability and recordability.
Material Control & Transfer:
Segregate nonconforming material as instructed.
Transfer completed parts from PREP to QC, both physically and in system.
Additional Responsibilities:
Follow QPM07 requirements for preserving manufacturer branding.
Adhere to all FLSmidth procedures, documentation standards, and safety guidelines.
Cross-functional position that will train in the Final Parts department and participate in the lead program.
